Full Moons

It's easy for us to become caught up on the imagery of the Full Moon - it's very visible and fills the heavens with it's beautiful light.
It's natural for us to wish to engage with this beautiful moon as it shades our world with its silver light and so we Moon bathe, meditate and prepare to release and let go.
But the question that I am often asked is 'What exactly do we release'?
Good question......
It's helpful to remember that the passage of the Moon through the heavens, represents the lunar cycle.
The lunar cycle - from New Moon to New Moon takes approximately a month or a Moonth!
The Moon's cycle begins with the New Moon - which represents the beginning of the waxing or growth phase.
As the Moon increases in light, seeds are sown, energy engages in the world, action is taken.
We celebrate the waxing phase by setting intentions, planning and expanding.
Two weeks later, the Moon reaches its culmination and the intentions we planted during the waxing phase reach the fullness of their potential
At this point, the delicate balancing or tipping point of the Full Moon, as it hovers in the heavens, gives us a moment to reassess, remember and readdress the journey so far.
Before the Moon moves into her the waning phase, the phase from full back to new again - she pauses and decides what of value has been gained during the waxing phase.
It's helpful at this point to remember and celebrate, all that's been achieved, put in place, initiated.
Now the Moon encourages us to begin to tend our inner world, at times stirring us and bringing things up to the surface. Feelings and emotions are heightened, memories triggered, sensitivities enhanced.
Meditating during the Full Moon, gives us a chance to release, to let go of any self imposed blocks to our confidence, our belief in ourselves, safety and security needs that hold us back and mind sets that have outlived their useful purpose.
With greater self belief and clarity we can now begin to move forward into the second half of the lunar cycle, moving into the waning or harvesting phase - the part of the cycle when we begin to reap the rewards of the effort we've made, the seeds we have sown, the plans we've manifested.
And so the wheel turns, the cycle of growth and expansion of reward and contraction, during which the Full Moon plays an important part.
